Kepler Release Date
I’m pleased to be able to announce a release date for The Kepler Experiment – 6th November 2025, 5PM GMT. It will be available as a free download on IndieDB and Itch.io.
Some of you have been following the development of this game from its initial announcement in October 2023, but the game actually began development in May of that year. Initially, it was a kind of experimental project, to learn the ins and outs of the Godot Engine. But since May 2023, it has evolved into a fully-fledged project. I’m satisfied with how it has turned out.
To those who left encouraging words, and to those who played my previous mods – I’m very grateful.
The Kepler Experiment is a survival horror game. It is a blend of traditional science-fiction FPSes (like Half-Life and System Shock 2) and adventure games (like Amnesia: The Dark Descent). Specifically, I wanted to mix elements from two of my mods, Dissolution and The Apocalypse. It features environmental/inventory system puzzle-solving, resource management, classic FPS gameplay and a (hopefully intriguing) backstory to dive into, making use of audio logs, readable notes and environmental storytelling.
The game is set in the same universe as Dissolution, Lunar Descent and The Apocalypse. While its story is totally independent, there are plenty of throwbacks to the other titles for those of you who appreciate such things.
