Teaser trailer for The Kepler Experiment

It’s been quite a long time (November!) since I last posted any kind of project update. The Kepler Experiment has been progressing well since then – there hasn’t been any kind of pause in development – but much of the work that goes into game development isn’t worth showing, so I haven’t had much cause to post.

But enough of the game is now complete that I’m happy to share a teaser trailer. The trailer gives a decent sample of the game, showing its environments, its gameplay systems, and hinting at the general story and setup. Hopefully it gives you an idea of the kind of game Kepler will be.

As you may have noticed in the trailer, I’m feeling confident enough to publicly set a 2025 release date. I’ll narrow this down a bit at some stage over the next few months, but I feel a release this year is a reasonably safe bet.

The Kepler Experiment is my first foray into game development using the open-source Godot Engine, having used the Source Engine for well over a decade beforehand for game projects, and perhaps it was an overambitious first project on a new engine, but I am quite happy with how it’s shaping up – something of a combination of The Apocalypse and Dissolution, with an emphasis on survival horror FPS.

I’ve also uploaded some fresh screenshots. As ever, screenshots show work in progress which may be altered come release.
